This is my daily camera and what I’ve been using for my 10 clips a day series
The Canon R8 is a super compact full-frame camera.
It shoots up to 4k at 60fps & 1080p at 120fps. It has a 6k sensor that it downsizes to 4k so the videos that come out of this camera are suprisingly crisp for the size of the camera itself. I got it after I got my Canon R5c because I realized that I was craving something smaller. This camera is my daily camera and what I’ve been using for my 10 clips a day series.
MY BEAST
The Canon R5C is essentially a Canon R5 with the addition of cinema software. I mainly use this camera for short films and client projects. It shoots up to 8k at 60fps (when attached to external power), but I rarely shoot higher than 4k. It does not have built-in IBIS, which some people don’t care for, but I haven’t had a problem with it. For longer projects, I rig it in a cage with a V-mount battery attached (my cages & batteries are listed below).

I use this e-ink journal to storyboard my videos and brainstorm ideas. I am a huge journaler and I was buying a journal for every category of my life and leaving them half-filled until I got my Nomad. I absolutely love it and haven’t bought a physical journal since.

Q: What’s the tripod you use for your overhead setup?
A: It’s a combination of these items:
To be honest, a few years ago I was going to purchase a C-stand, but I didn’t want to drop hundreds of dollars. So, I tried to find a solution with what I already had (A Geekoto tripod that converts into a monopod and a light stand).
The solution was a $50 boom mic support + grip head. Sometimes I need to get creative with counterweights (like putting the light stand foot under a 10lb dumbbell), but it works so well that I haven’t been able to justify getting a C-stand… maybe one day I will.
Q: What editing software do you use?
A: Premiere Pro
Q: What LUT do you use?
A: For my 10 Clips a Day Series I have been shooting in Rec. 709 and color grading that myself. I do have a preset that I made, use, and adjust for each shot, though! I will be making a LUT package for it in the near future!
Note: I do use c-log for bigger projects, but I have gotten used to shooting Rec 709 for quick turnaround social media posts.
